With the doors of the house where Donaly Joel Martínez lived closed, his relatives say the last goodbyeafter he was killed at the hands of a police officer at the Santiago carnival last Sunday afternoon.
Screams, tears, people in a state of ‘shock’ and others almost fainted is the atmosphere in the place where Donaly is held, in the Cienfuegos sector of Santiago Oeste.
In the place a tarp was placed that covers the street up to the sidewalk. This, as a way of extending the space where friends and relatives are accompanying relatives in this painful situation.
Children in Donaly’s age range, his friends “who always came out to play at night with him,” are also present. Sad in the midst of the inconsolable screams that can be heard all over the street.
One of his schoolmates is heard saying “And who am I going to play with now?”
Donald, son of Anthony Martinezwas the older brother of a baby girl just one year old.
The 11-year-old was preparing to go to this year’s Math Olympics. He also expected recognition as a meritorious student for the third time when he completed his 6th grade at Escuela Ciriaco Sancha.
