Donald Trump He confirmed this Sunday that his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, will visit Russia next week, before the imminent deadline for Washington sanctions.
In addition, Trump said that two nuclear submarines that deployed after an in -line dispute with former Russian president Dmitri Medvedev were now “in the region.”
However, the Republican president has not specified whether it refers to nuclear propulsion submarines or with atomic weapons.
Speaking to journalists, Trump said Witkoff would visit Russia “I think next week, Wednesday or Thursday.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin has already met with Witkoff on several occasions in Moscow, before Trump’s efforts to repair relationships with Kremlin were completely stopped.
When journalists asked what Witkoff’s message would be to Moscow and if there was something that Russia could do to avoid sanctions, Trump replied: “Yes, reach an agreement to stop dying people.”
Trump had already threatened that the new measures could mean “secondary tariffs” aimed at the commercial partners that have left Russia, such as China and India. This would even drown Russia, but would involve a risk of significant international disturbance.
Despite Washington’s pressure, Russia’s offensive against his pro -western neighbor follows his course.
Putin, who has systematically rejected the calls to the Alto El Fuego, said Friday that he wants a “lasting and stable peace” in the conflict with Ukraine, but said that their conditions were maintained for the truce.
