Dominicans from all over the world choose to return to the DR for various reasons

Dominicanos de todo el mundo eligen regresar a RD por diversas razones

Las Américas Airport.-Dominicans who resided in different countries, many of them illegally, are returning voluntarily and according to reports more than three thousand have arrived so far this year 2024.

Reports obtained at the Las Américas airport also indicate that Dominicans with residences and legal documents have also returned to their country permanently.

Most of the Dominicans who are returning did so from Puerto Rico, New York and other American places, as well as Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, among other European nations.

They also come from Panama, Venezuela, using flights on other routes, as well as from Curacao and Aruba, Saint Martin, Guadeloupe, Martinique, The Bahamas and Barbados.

A large percentage of the Creoles from these nations are women of different ages who were dedicated to carrying out various productive activities in order to survive.

In conversations with Immigration authorities upon arrival at the Las Américas airport, the Dominicans expressed that they decided to voluntarily return to the country, tired of going through calamities and vicissitudes.

“In order to survive, we had to bite the bullet, in the midst of persecution by the Immigration authorities,” said Creoles who arrived from Panama, Venezuela and San Martín.

They prefer, according to testimonies, to suffer calamities in the Dominican Republic and not outside its territory, having to endure abuses from the authorities of those countries, both Immigration and the Police.

Meanwhile, from Spain, according to reports, many Dominicans, including family members, have voluntarily returned to their country, many of them with legal residence in that European nation.

In the case of many Dominicans who have returned from Puerto Rico, the majority said they had traveled to the island in yachts and others with a visa.
