Dominicans burn houses of Haitians in Puerto Plata after murder

Outraged by the murder of three people in Rancho Manuel de Villa Isabela in the province of Puerto Plata, residents of the town burned several houses of Haitian nationals since it is presumed that one of these was the one who would have committed the done.

The aggressor has not been identified so far and fled, but there is information that he was in charge of milking cattle on the farm where the tragedy occurred.

The action was carried out by residents of the communities of Rancho Manuel and Tiburcio in the municipality of Villa Isabela, in retaliation for the murder.

The victims were identified as Juan José Soto Cornier, 72 years old, owner of Hacienda “Josefina”, and his two employees Gilberto Antonio Basilio, 63 years old, and a woman who has not yet been identified by name, but it is said that she was an architect, friend of the landowner, and was carrying out remodeling work on the house.

Members of the National Instituteto the Forensic Sciences (Inacif), the National Police and the Public Ministry lifted the corpses and transferred them to the morgue of the Ricardo Limardo hospital in San Felipe Puerto Plata, and then they will be taken to the Inacif in Santiago for their corresponding autopsy.
