Dominican Republic leads the fight against drug trafficking with the seizure of 48.3 tons of drugs

República Dominicana lidera el combate al narcotráfico con la incautación de 48.3 toneladas de drogas

Dominican Republic continues to consolidate its leadership in the region of Caribbeanin it combat drug trafficking, money laundering and other related crimescarrying out forceful operations against structures of the racketeeringunprecedented in the entire history of the country.

Within the framework of the joint strategies and the firm mission of the Dominican Government, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD)with the support of the Armed Forces, the Attorney General’s Office, Customs, State Intelligence agencies and international cooperationwere confiscated during 2025, some 31,294 kilograms and with the support of allied countries, another 17,041, for a consolidated total of 48,335 kilograms (48.3 tons) of different drugs.

According to official statistics from the organization, the authorities carried out operations deployed at airports, ports, coasts, borders and other points in the country, 19,586 kilograms of cocaine, 11,564 of marijuana, 121.47 of crack, as well as 21.53 kilograms of ecstasy, hashish, cough, methamphetamines, among other controlled substances.

During the interventions, they arrested 46,367 people and 404 weapons of different calibers, 18 boats, dozens of outboard motors, 2,082 vehicles, radio navigation equipment, communication radios, cell phones, US$58,408.00 US dollars, RD$34,514,785 pesos, among other evidence, were also confiscated.

The authorities also reported that with the support of United States Marshalsit was possible to extradite and deport some 84 fugitives from international justiceconsolidating its search and capture operations for fugitives at the national level.

The figures for seizures of drugs, real and personal property, money, vehicles, among other properties, the dismantling of drug trafficking networksas well as the operational capacity in the arrest and extradition of fugitives, demonstrates the firm commitment of the Government of President Luis Abinader, to decisively confront criminal structures.

The president of the DNCD, Vice Admiral José M. Cabrera Ulloa, He highlighted the hard work of the men and women who make up the anti-narcotics organization, and guaranteed that they continued to execute strategies, together with other institutions, to confront and eradicate the trafficking of controlled substances.
