Dominican Republic and FBI authorities arrange Nine from Red link Cyberdelites

Santo Domingo.-The Public Ministry yesterday executed the Discovery 3.0 operation, with a wide deployment against a network of cybercriminality and money laundering that operated from the Dominican Republic and that, according to the authorities, had been committing more than two years committing offers through digital platforms to scam, steal personal data, supplant identities and bleach capitals, using as main victims of people of advanced age in the United States.

50 prosecutors and 375 police officers participated in the action, who carried out 34 raids in Santiago, Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo, in coordination with the Special Division of International Organized Crime Research and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which simultaneously carried out operations in California, New York, Florida, Maryland and Missouri.

Successful in action
Among the detainees are the Dominicans Óscar Manuel Castaños García, Edward José Puello García, Joel de la Cruz and Gerardo Heriberto Núñez.

In total, nine people were arrested, of which four face extradition request.
The detainees will be presented to the Supreme Court of Justice for the extradition processes and before the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santiago to know coercion measures for the local criminal process.

During the operations, cash, high -end vehicles, jewelry, electronic equipment, firearms and liquid marijuana were seized.

About operation
The head of the General Directorate of Persecution, Wilson Camacho, stressed that the operation responds to the strategy of Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso to face firmly and continuously cybercriminality and crime.

It is the third phase of the Discovery operation, which in its previous versions led to trial to criminal networks responsible for mainly cheating retired American citizens, stripping them of their resources through deception.
