The Dominican passport begins 2023 in 78th place in terms of travel freedom, according to the passport index of Henley & Partnersreferring to the evaluation of the number of countries to which citizens can travel without having to process a visa.
This represents a slight drop of four points in the index ranking for the Dominican passport compared to the beginning of 2022, where was it located in position 74. However, it does not imply changes in access to countries without a visa compared to that year.
As of the close of December 22, 2022, holders of a passport from the Dominican Republic could travel to 70 countries and territories without a travel visa or with a visa on arrival, as it was at the beginning of 2022.
For his part, Passport Index places the global reach of the Dominican passport at 42%. The well-known database maintains our document with a mobility score of 83, the same as at the beginning of 2022. Unlike the Henley index, the Passport Index indicates that there are 80 countries that Dominicans can access without a visa (including which you can apply for an arrival visa).
Citizens of the Dominican Republic are among the few Latin American nations, such as Bolivia and Ecuador, that do not yet enjoy the visa waiver regime with the European Union (Schengen visa).
