Domínguez Brito accuses the government of abandoning the countryside

Francisco Dominguez Britopresidential candidate for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD)warned that the government of President Louis Abinader it has abandoned the countryside and has broken promises to support farmers and agricultural producers in the country. These statements were made before more than 2,500 people at two major events in the provinces of La Romana and Espaillat.

Francisco affirmed that the neglect of the government in the field represents a great danger for the famine alert that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has formulated, and that instead of promoting massive planting of different items, is imbued with campaign promises.

“It is time for the government to significantly increase financing with the Agricultural Bank. It is sad that the famous zero rate has remained in a very small group, where only elite businessmen linked to PRM have been the beneficiaries. It is essential that the canceled agricultural technicians be replaced, whose training has cost the Dominican State enormous resources.

The ex environment minister said that productivity should be improved, encourage imports, he also expressed that the titling of the lands and debureaucratize the credit so that the peasants can have access to them: “We must create a fleet of small boats so that our products are sold in the Caribbean islands and we can promote their sale.”

Francis stated that while the country languishes for lack of attention to the most needy sectors, the government of the President Luis Abinader insists on showing that there are changes in favor of the population.

“It is a shame that the government is immersed in a campaign, they have never sat down to govern, promising to do things in the field, when they know they are not to continue making promises, but to solve the serious problem that the peasants and producers of the country have”, he stressed.

Finally, Francisco said that the PLD does not stop, they tell the PRM that they leave: “There cannot be so much mercilessness, so much indolence. With one voice we say leave. I’ll be your candidate and next President of the Republic, the president of those who need, of those who expect a helping hand, I will be the president who will work for young people, for those who dream.
