The United States government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Domicema leading cement production company in the Dominican Republic, recently announced the signing of an agreement aimed at strengthening the culture of peace, improving the management of conflicts and prevent violence in the municipality of Sabana Grande de Palenqueprovince of San Cristóbal.
According to the press release, this initiative seeks to raise awareness among community of Sabana Grande de Palenque by providing tools and techniques to address community problems, prevent conflicts and promote comprehensive civic education.
The collaboration between USAIDthrough its Justice and Security project, and Domicem reaffirms the commitment of both parties with the implementation of sustainable solutions that promote comprehensive development and improve the quality of life in the most vulnerable communities in the Dominican Republic.
A project with a vision of the future
This alliance is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations, in particular with the SDG 16, which promotes access to justice and the construction of effective, responsible and inclusive institutions.
“We feel very proud to contribute to the development of our country through this alliance with USAID. This project reflects our commitment with the Dominican Republic and with the improvement of the quality of life of its citizens,” he highlighted Adriano BrunettiCEO of Domicem.
- It is expected that the actions derived from this agreement will significantly benefit the municipality of Sabana Grande de Palenque by creating work tables aimed at identifying local problems and co-creating solutions, such as educational programs and the empowerment of young people in relation to their rights and duties. All this with the objective of promoting harmonious coexistence in the community.
Additionally, the project will impact 25 community organizations and will train 50 local leaders in the diagnosis of needs and in the development of projects that benefit the community.
