The Secretary of Internal Trade of the Nation, Roberto Feletti, together with the Undersecretary of Actions for the Defense of Consumers, Liliana Schwindt, held a working meeting this afternoon with mayors and officials from various Buenos Aires municipalities belonging to the third section election, with the aim of articulate the short-term implementation of a regulated fruit and vegetable basket.
The idea that promotes Internal Trade is that the basket arrives in the first instance, to the entire Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA)to later expand to other districts.
In this sense, Feletti highlighted that “in January and February we saw a high incidence of fruits and vegetables in the INDEC Consumer Price Index”, which is why the Internal Trade Secretariat is working together with the Central Market, other hub markets, and fruit and vegetable wholesalers to stabilize prices.
Present at the meeting were the mayor of AvellanedaAlejo Chornobroff, and representatives of the municipalities of Lanus, Lomas de zamora, Ezeiza, Admiral Brown, The slaughter, Quilmes and Berazategui. The authorities stated that maintaining the access of all neighbors to a basket of these characteristics is one of their main concerns and showed total predisposition to put the tools of the municipalities based on pricing policies.

The Ministry of Domestic Trade, in a statement, stated that “based on the diagnoses carried out jointly between the National Government and the municipalities on the fruit and vegetable marketing chain, a proximity basket is going to be built through various mechanisms and procedures.
“We want to work together with the municipalities and evaluate with the community referents the most effective policies when establishing baskets of fresh products, in this case fruits and vegetables, because they are the ones who they will guarantee that they reach all the neighbors,” Feletti stressed.
Finally, the official placed this measure within the framework of the pricing policy that has been implemented since he took charge of the Secretariat, in October 2021, and emphasized that “we are building the necessary regulatory tools to guarantee the access of all Argentine men and women to different broad and diversified baskets of essential goods”.
On the other hand, in the morning hours, Feletti and Schwindt toured the Central Market of Buenos Aires and they held a meeting with the authorities and the main operators of the same, with the purpose of exchanging points of view and agreeing on the implementation of the fruit and vegetable basket.
