The Rayos attacked more in the second half, led by Colombian Kevin Rosero, but lacked forcefulness, especially in the 52nd minute with an arrival by Argentines Tomás Badaloni and Kevin Carranza, an attack stopped by a good save by goalkeeper Luis Cárdenas. Rosero maintained the leading role, outwitting the defenders in the 81st minute, but Franco Rossano failed in the shot, in Necaxa’s clearest play. Monterrey has one victory, one defeat and three points, the same balance as Necaxa.
Rondón scores his first goal in Pachuca’s victory
In another match, Venezuelan Salomón Rondón scored his first goal of the tournament to give Pachuca a 2-1 victory over León. The Moroccan Oussama Idrissi and Rondón converted for the Tuzos and the Argentine Rogelio Funes Mori scored for the visitors. After 45 minutes of fighting, in a counterattack the Tuzos took advantage with a right-footed goal from Idrissi with an assist from Venezuelan Jhonder Cádiz. Pachuca went for more and in the 69th minute extended the lead with a shot by Rondón into the corner from outside the area. Funes Mori scored his goal, left-footed in the 84th minute.
