Dollar today: price of June 3, 2022

The Mexican peso depreciated marginally against the American dollar on Friday. The local currency lost ground due to a strengthening of the greenback, after the publication of positive data from the United States economy.

The exchange rate ended this day at 19.5677 units compared to yesterday’s record of 19.5602 units per dollar, with data from the Bank of Mexico (Banxico). That meant a 0.03% loss for the coin, less than a penny.

The crossing operated in a limited range between a maximum of 19.6116 units and a minimum of 19.5000 units. The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the greenback against a basket of six benchmark currencies, was up 0.31% at 102.14.

The strengthening of the dollar in the markets was caused by the figures in the May employment report in the United States, which showed that the creation of jobs was higher than expectations, said the firm Banco Base.

“The non-farm payroll report for May showed the creation of 390,000 jobs in the fifth month, the lowest since April 2021, but more than expected (325,000),” said Eduardo Ramos, market analyst for ATFX.

In the week, from a record of 19.6064 units per dollar last Friday, the peso registered an accumulated loss of 3.87 cents or 0.20 percent. The Dollar Index moved during the week 0.49%, in a slight rise.
