THE commercial dollar ended this Monday (17) sold at R$5.331with an increase of R$0.035 (+0.66%). The price rose throughout the session, but soared in the final two hours of trading, until closing close to the day’s high.

The US currency is at its highest value since the 7th. Despite this Monday’s rise, the currency accumulated a drop of 0.91% in November and 13.74% in 2025.

Instability also marked the day in the stock market. THE B3’s Ibovespa index closed at 156,993 points, down 0.47%. The indicator fell 0.73% at 5:04 pm, but slowed down in the final minutes of trading.

On a day without relevant news in the domestic market, concerns about the United States prevailed. Investors await the release of data on the US economy, after the end of the shutdown (government shutdown), which lasted about 40 days.

On Wednesday (19), the Federal Reserve (Fed, American Central Bank) releases the minutes of the October 29 meeting. On Thursday (20), employment data will be released in the United States. The two documents are expected to give clues as to whether the Central Bank of the largest economy on the planet will be able to cut basic interest rates in December.

Lower interest rates in advanced economies encourage capital migration to emerging countries, such as Brazil. However, anxiety surrounding the data blackout caused by the shutdown has caused turmoil in the financial market.
