In a day of adjustments in the financial market, the dollar rose more than 2% and the stock market fell sharply. The lack of definition about the economic team of the future government caused a correction movement after a week of highs in the stock market and a fall in the US currency quotation.
The commercial dollar ended this Monday (7th) sold at R$5.173, up by R$0.111 (+2.19%). The price opened higher, came to operate close to stability around 11 am, but shot up from the end of the morning, until closing at the maximum of the day.
With today’s performance, the US currency started to accumulate a high of 0.14% in November. In 2022, the currency drops 7.23%.
In the stock market, the day was also tense. The B3 Ibovespa index closed at 115,342 points, down 2.38%, after operating close to stability for most of the morning.
Part of the flow of foreign capital that entered the country last week returned abroad in the absence of announcements about the composition of the economic team of the government of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The Brazilian stock market detached itself from the North American stock exchanges, which rose on Monday.
Mixed news about the loosening of the lockdowns in China also contributed to the malaise in emerging countries, especially those selling commodities (primary goods with international quotation) to the second largest economy on the planet.
The Chinese government did not announce a timetable for lifting social restrictions in regions affected by Covid-19 outbreaks, which caused oil and ore to fall on the international market.
