MIAMI, United States. — The Provincial Company of the Food Industry in Havana (EPIA) reported last Thursday on social networks about a new offer of released bread that is already available in bakeries in the capital.
It is about dog bread with extender, produced, according to the state agency, “with a new formulation and grammage.”
“The sale of released bread has already begun in the municipalities of the capital with a new formulation and grammage, which has been well accepted by the population,” the EPIA indicated on its website at Facebook.
According to the entity, “the dog bread with an 80g extender is already available at a price of 12 Cuban pesos.”
The EPIA specified that the new offer will not affect the distribution of basic basket bread, which will continue to be marketed at a Cuban peso.
“The bread in the basic basket does not undergo any change, it continues to be 80g round bread with a sale price of 1 Cuban peso,” the publication highlights.
Recently, EPIA specialists and officials in Havana detected irregularities in the production of bread in various establishments in the Cuban capital.
The problems were identified by officials of that organization during a tour of several bakeries in Havana, in which it was possible to verify that the bread that is delivered to the population is below the established parameters.
The EPIA pointed out that the inspections showed that the bread made in state bakeries is considered “out of standard” or “low weight”, since it does not have the approved grammage, which is 80 grams.
The deficiencies were detected in the “Elegante” bakeries, from the Cotorro municipality, “Bombero” (Diez de Octubre), “La Nueva” (Centro Habana), “La flor” (Regla), “Modelo” (Arroyo Naranjo), “América ” (Marianao) and “La Royal” (October 10).
