Does Tropical Storm Debby pose a threat to the Dominican Republic?

According to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET) Due to its position, distance and movement, Tropical Storm Debby, which formed yesterday north of Cuba, does not represent a danger to the Dominican Republic.

At 7:00 am today, The center of the phenomenon was located near latitude 25.5 north and longitude 84.0 west, about 315 kilometers south/southwest of Tampa, Florida.

Debby is moving toward the north/northwest near 20 kph, with a turn toward the north expected during the day today.

It has maximum sustained winds of 85 kph with higher gusts and storm-force winds extend outward up to 220 km east of its center.
