Does the RM Party evaluate a free candidate for Mayor of Panama?

At the level of the candidacies for President of the Republic in 2024, the picture is beginning to be quite clear.

Officially, Ricardo Martinelli for the RM party and José Gabriel Carrizo for the ruling PRD party are nominated, awaiting what happens in Cambio Democrático and in the Panameñista Party, where José Blandón would win by “forfait”, having no opponent.

The 3 most signed by the free nomination would be added to the block of party candidates, whose result would be known at the end of July.

The second most important electoral position is the Mayor of Panama.

In this sense, in recent weeks, chips have been moved tending to mature the possibility that the RM party is inclined to nominate a candidate among the free nomination block to offer him the nomination for Mayor of the Municipality of Panama.

According to political sources, the best positioned, if the idea materializes, would be the expanameñista Katleen Levy, whose profile and “popularity” are seen by RM members to fight for the position of mayor of the capital district.

The Mayor’s Office of Panama is currently headed by José Luis Fábrega of the PRD, to whom the diligence of his party has not guaranteed him a free hand for a re-election application. For Panameñismo, representative Willie Bermúdez would come out, who, like Blandón, has no opponent, so he would obtain the nomination of that party.

It is expected that in the coming days the race for the nomination for the mayor of Panama will take on greater political relevance.
