A video from the Cerroelavilacom account on Instagram circulates on WhatsApp, dated August 7 (2022), in which a man who does not appear on camera says – showing the route – that the treatment plant of the Hotel Humboldt does not work and the sewage from the building runs down El Ávila hill, affecting hikers and crops in Galipán. In the end, he summons Inparques. The information is misleading.
The wastewater did run for a few days through the National Park, but not due to failures in the treatment plant, but due to the breakage of a pipe caused by the fall of a tree that has already been solved, according to what Inparques reported through its account. on Instagram on August 15.
«I am in El Humboldt, at the back, at the part where the hikers make their way and look, the treatment plant is not working and all the sewage from the hotel is on the trail. Imagine how detrimental this is not only for hikers, but also that one has to walk on sewage and all this goes to Galipán’s crops, by the way. It smells horrible, this is pathetic. The Humboldt administration, I’m sorry and I’m sorry for the people who come to the Humboldt Hotel do not know what they are paying, they do not know what is around the Humboldt Hotel. eye! I have nothing against the Hotel Humboldt, I am against this ecocide. So, attention to the people of the State. Inparques, if you really defend the national parks, they are destroying the Waraira Repano National Park,” the narrator is heard saying in the one minute and 17 second long video, identified as the Cerroelavilacom Instagram account.
In the Instagram account of the Hotel Humboldt there is nothing related to the complaint. The EsPaja.com team contacted the hotel management, but there was no statement.
For its part, Inparques posted on Instagram on August 15 a video recorded on August 14 from El Ávila at 2:19 pm, as indicated in the audiovisual material, in which it is ensured that the fault was corrected.
The person who gives the explanation, and who does not identify himself, acknowledges that there was a container of sewage that at the time of registering in El Ávila on August 14, had already been resolved.

Security personnel from the Hotel Humboldt, park rangers, supervisory personnel from the coordination of the Waraira Repano National Park verified on that date that the problem had been solved, reports the man in the video as he descends some stairs that lead to the Lagunazo sector, where sewage canister occurred. It is good to point out that the site affected by the sewage is not shown, as the complainant does.
It indicates that the fall of a large tree due to heavy rains caused the rupture of one of the main pipes that collects and channels the wastewater from the Hotel Humboldt and that to date had already been repaired. The video posted on Instagram in the Inparquesoficial account is also available in the Waraira Repano National Park (pn warairarepano).
With the information available on social networks from official organizations, EsPaja.com concludes that the information in the video circulating on Whatsapp is misleading, because although sewage ran along the paths of El Ávila for a few days, it is not an ecocide as indicated. who makes the complaint, but of a mishap caused by the fall of a tree that broke one of the pipes that channel these waters, a fault that was repaired, according to personnel from the Hotel Humboldt and the Waraira Repano National Park.
