The onset of pregnancy is commonly marked by vertigo, nausea and vomiting, as well as tiredness and drowsiness. With the evolution of pregnancy, edema, cramps and abdominal contractions add to the list of symptoms and may make it difficult to concentrate to drive a vehicle. The warning is from the Brazilian Association of Traffic Medicine (Abramet). 
During the 16th Brazilian Congress of Traffic Medicine in Salvador, the obstetrician and member of the scientific committee of Abramet Lilian Kondo pointed out that Both pregnancy and puerperium are periods that require greater attention from women when taking the steering wheel.
In the case of pregnant drivers, the recommendations, she said, include:
- Avoid long routes;
- In case of malaise, stop the vehicle and ask for help;
- program frequent stops to lengthen and move;
- Wear compression socks on trips over four hours; and
- Use safety equipment.
In this last question, the doctor points out that It is recommended to ward off the seat from the steering wheel to the maximum, but so that it does not harm the steering, and wearing the seat belt so that the subabdominal track is as low as possible and never over the belly. The diagonal track should be positioned by passing laterally to the uterus.
For postpartums, there is no deadline for the return to driving vehicles. Some countries, according to Lilian, advise to wait two to six weeks.
