Dr. Pedro Luis Ripollhead of service at Ripoll and Prado Sport Clinic, told EFE this Saturday, after the anterior cruciate ligament injury of Eder Militaothe second of this type, one in each knee, which suffers in 15 months that between 12 and 15% of athletes “may successively suffer” this type of coincident injuries.
“It is undoubtedly a serious injury. “Medical studies indicate that between 12 and 15% of athletes can successively suffer injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament in both knees,” said Dr. Pedro Luis Ripoll.
“There are factors specific to the joint structure of each individual and their morphotype that determine this high rate of coincident injuries,” he added.

Militao suffered a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament against Osasuna with damage to both menisci in his right knee which Dr. Ripoll describes as “serious”, but with an “optimistic prognosis”.
“It is a serious injury especially because the meniscal injuries are added, which requires suturing them that will lengthen the recovery time,” he points out. “Even so, the prognosis is optimistic because medical science has solutions more than acceptable for this type of injuries,” he concluded.
