Nicaraguan doctor José Daniel Estrada, 32, won first place in the internal scientific competition promoted by the Association of Internal Medicine of El Salvador (ASOMIES) among a total of 10 countries competing for the position.
The research carried out by Dr. Estrada was based on reviews of cases of invasive mycosis (Infectious disease caused by microscopic fungi that can affect any part of the body). This research was supported by the Nicaraguan Association of Internal Medicine (ANMI) and competed with doctors from a total of ten countries.

Estrada is originally from the Chacraseca community, a rural area of the municipality of León, he comes from a peasant family that gave him the best inheritance that is education and now he becomes a source of pride for them and their community.
In recent statements, Dr. Vicente Maltez Montiel, honorary president of the Nicaraguan Association of Internal Medicine (AMNI), highlighted that it is the first time that a Nicaraguan doctor has received this award. The results of the “Scientific Free Papers Competition” were announced on July 9.
For his part, Dr. Estrada, graduate of the Universal Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua, in León, class of 2014, and with a specialty in internal medicine, expressed feeling “very proud, it is an honor that representing my country, Nicaragua, I achieved the First place . This shows that there is a high scientific level in the national medical union. Very grateful to the doctors from Managua who supported me, among them Dr. Vicente Maltez Montiel, honorary president of the Nicaraguan Association of Internal Medicine”, concluded the specialist.
Estrada, who is a specialist in internal medicine, explained that he had previously participated in the interhospital competition that took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Managua, organized by the Nicaraguan Association of Internal Medicine.
He also participated in international congresses such as the one in Asunción Paraguay, which was in November 2021, but the most important congress he had was the one in La Paz, Bolivia, where he was recognized and is now a member of the Latin American Society of Internal Medicine, which opens doors for you to be updated with scientific articles and online conferences.
