This Wednesday, March 9, marks two years since the health crisis was decreed in our country, when the first case of Covid-19 was detected.
Along the same lines, the director of Health Services and Benefits of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Alex González, highlighted several points that have been important for managing the pandemic.
He revealed that this Tuesday morning, at the Covid-19 Hospital, located in the City of Health, woke up with 24 infected patients, which represents that a sustained drop is taking place.
“Now we have had many cases and most have stayed at home. Vaccination has been the most important strategy in this pandemic,” she remarked.
The doctor added that these four waves or mutations of the virus that we have experienced in Panama have been very different.
He pointed out that many people do not have the habit of preventing, but go to the doctor when they are already sick.
González stressed that the clearest message that the pandemic leaves us is that prevention is the way. “The system has to turn to primary care. Regardless of whether we see that the cases are going down, the best way to combat it is by getting vaccinated,” the doctor said.
