Attending to all the needs of Cumaribo would take a large part of the resources of his department, therefore, whoever aspires to be president, would have to know -or at least as a reference- the largest municipality in Colombia.
Colombia News.
Regarding the campaigns for Congress and the Presidency of the Republic, when candidates are asked about the reality in the regions, it is difficult for the answers to be specific, the last episode had Vichada as its epicenter, “what is that?” , replied Rodolfo Hernandez.
Someone stopped the presidential candidate, former mayor of Bucaramanga, at the airport and asked for a greeting for Vichada.
- Rodolfo Hernandez: “What is that? Which is the capital?”
- Citizen: “In the Orinoquía, Puerto Carreño”.
- RH: «Ah well, greetings to Puerto Carreño in Vichada, a very special greeting. Invite them to join me in the next election (…). Give me the checkbook, I’m not going to let you down.”
In addition to its capital, Puerto Carreño, as is the case in all departments, the capital is important, but there may be other municipalities with greater relevance, whether economically, geographically, or with other circumstances.
Coumaribo
In many cases, unknown municipalities at the country level, as is the case with Cumaribo.
This is one of the most remote towns in the country, but it is the largest; although with fewer inhabitants, it has a greater extension of land.
- Little more than 44 thousand inhabitants, divided into 19 inspections and 46 indigenous reservations.
- It has almost 64 thousand square meters.
They suffer from the lack of road infrastructure, precarious health services, the war of armed groups has also touched these lands. Communication is even more difficult, because its jungle geography makes it difficult to access telephone and internet services, there is no timely health system and no good education.
In bathing suits or naked: politicians and their ‘extravagant’ campaigns in Colombia
And although the Presidency attends to the country and for the regions there are governors and mayors, for such a privileged area there should be a joint effort. How to do it if a president who does not know where he is located?
Attending to all the needs of Cumaribo would take a large part of Vichada’s resources, therefore, the nation must necessarily help them.
That area is also not on the legislative radar, or very little.
What it did generate a few days ago is an alert for an increase of 266% in registered IDs for the upcoming elections.
vichada
In addition to Vichada being the second largest department in Colombia after the Amazon, it borders Venezuela.
And it extends from the foothills of the eastern mountain range in the Eastern Plains to Venezuela, over the river basin Orinoco.
Among other details: La Primavera, Santa Rosalía and Cumaribo, are the other municipalities besides its capital. And the main economic activities are in livestock, where intense days of vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease, fishing, agriculture and mining are currently carried out.

On purpose, the discussion about Cumaribo has gone viral, due to a message on Twitter in which a former mayor in charge of that population responded to Hernández and asked him to study, however, those who know the municipality also responded to the former president: «What did he do? you for Cumaribo?».
You were mayor of Cumaribo? But he didn’t do shit!
I worked there for three years and it is a town that everyone has forgotten, except for the guerrillas.
