La Vega.– President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, announced an unprecedented investment of two billion pesos in sports at the national level, resources that come from the recovered funds of cases of corruption submitted and convicted.
The announcement, made in La Vega, marks a milestone in the history of Dominican sport. According to Cruz, The investment will impact this province and other 27 municipalities in the countrywith the construction and remodeling of multiple sports facilities.
“That is why we will build 25 new roofs in municipalities that still do not have this type of sports facilities and we will carry out the impulse of sports development to key demarcations,” said the minister.
Among the main works include remodeling of the baseball stadium of San Juan de la Maguanathe Continuation of the San Pedro de Macorís Sports Complex —What includes fighting pavilions, karate, weights and gymnastics, in addition to the youth plays, the athletic track and the villas for athletes – as well as other improvements in different parts of the country.

“This is a moment of joy, commitment and thanks because behind each work there is a child who dreams, an athlete who prepares, a community that joins. Thanks to President Abinader for allowing the Ministry of Sports to be a change tool, which sows hope where there was abandonment,” said Cruz visibly excited.

The investment also contemplates the remodeling of the Provincial Baseball Stadium, the reconstruction of the Fernando Teruel Sports Center, which will become the new Volleyball Palace, and the integral renewal of the Combat Pavilion, the Athletics Track and the Olympic pool, all with international standards.
Likewise, the Handball roofthe field tennis court and the General resolement of the Vega Olympic Centerwith the aim of turning it into a top -level sports installation.
