The national director of Telecommunications and Audiovisual Communication Services, Guzmán Acosta y Lara, said that telephone users gained rights thanks to the Do Not Call registry, promoted by the Executive Power. This device, which received more than 50,000 registrations since April 30, avoids telephone contact for advertising purposes, offers, sales and gifts of unsolicited goods or services.
In an interview with Presidential Communication, this Tuesday 10, Acosta and Lara explained that users or holders of telephone services may request not to be bothered by a certain company interested in offering a service that they do not want or that is not within what was agreed.
To enroll in the registry, users must communicate directly with the telecommunications company with which they contracted the fixed or mobile service. In this way, the telephone number will be entered in the registry and the Communications Services Regulatory Unit (Ursec) will receive a list, in order to protect personal data, he specified.
Once the interested parties enter the information, the companies have a period of five working days to communicate it to the Ursec. The registry is updated after 30 days, as agreed with the telecommunications companies and customer service centers (call centers).
