The December festivities in Bogotá have been marked by numerous acts of intolerance, with 910 fights recorded in the last few hours, mainly in the south of the city. These incidents, which mostly involved sharp weapons, They were mitigated thanks to the work of the “Antiriña” patrols of the Metropolitan Police.
Within the framework of the Christmas Plan, the Police deployed five “Antiriña” groups, composed of 20 motorized vehicles each, to tour the most conflictive locations and respond in a timely manner to emergencies.
According to the authorities, between 6 pm and 6 am, 1,492 calls related to fights were received on emergency line 123. Of these, 61% were deactivated without major consequences, thanks to the direct intervention of the patrol officers.

The patrols carried out search operations on people in public establishments, parks and strategic points, managing to avoid potential serious attacks and, in some cases, fatalities. These efforts are part of the New Model of the Police Service, aimed at strengthening security in the territories and promote peaceful coexistence.
In addition to the fights, the highest cases of people burned during the festivities were also recorded in the south of Bogotá. This phenomenon continues to be a constant concern for the authorities, who insist on prevention campaigns and the control of the use of gunpowder.

In another event that marked the day, an attempted robbery of a securities truck in the Villa Sonia neighborhood, Kennedy town, left a fatal outcome. During the assault, a bodyguard lost his life after receiving two gunshot wounds to the head, while another guard was wounded in the arm.
The attack occurred when three armed criminals intercepted the vehicle while it was reloading an ATM. Although the bodyguards responded with shots, the assailants managed to escape without taking the money. The authorities continue with the investigation to find those responsible.
