Santo Domingo.- The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) reported this Saturday the seizure of 320 sheets occupied inside 80 cardboard boxes, in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este, which had a total weight of 48.45 kilograms of cocaine.
The agency reported that the narcotic substance was confirmed according to the analysis of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF).
The DNCD and the Public Prosecutor’s Office mounted an operation along the entire length of the Mella highway, where they intercepted the driver of a van and another individual on board a car that was passing through, from whom they seized the boxes containing the sheets of cocaine.
The authorities deepen the investigations around the case, while the detainees will be brought to justice in the next few hours for violation of law 50-88, on drugs and controlled substances.
“The agents of the DNCD and official organizations, remain alert to these new modalities of drug trafficking, which try to circumvent security controls at airports and ports in the country,” the agency said through a press release.
