Santo Domingo.- Agents of the National Directorate of Control of Drugs (DNCD), supported by members of the Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESAC) and coordinated by the Public Ministry, seized in several interdiction operations five packages of marijuana and one hundred electronic cigarettes or “vapers”filled with a liquid made from cannabis.
During joint inspection tasks carried out at the Las Américas International Airport (JLFP), agents were verifying hundreds of boxes that arrived at the terminal from the United States, when a canine unit alerted about controlled substances in several packages.
In a first intervention, a total of one hundred electronic cigarettes were found inside a box, all filled with a liquid made from cannabis.
According to the manifesto, the cigarettes were sent by a company with an alleged address in Hicksville, New York, and would be received by an individual with an address in an apartment building in Ensanche Quisqueya.

The Public Ministry and the DNCD are carrying out investigations in each of the cases, while they continue to expand their operational and interdiction capacity, which has made it possible to thwart dozens of illicit international drug trafficking operations in the country’s airports and ports.
