The National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD)the Navy from Dominican Republic, State intelligence agencies and under the coordination of the Public Ministry, confiscated this Saturday 397 packages presumably cocaine, in the middle of an interdiction operation, maritime and land, carried out this morning on the coast of the province of Azua.
Tactical teams from the DNCD and the Navy, after receiving reports that several individuals aboard a speedboat (Go Fast type) of about 25 feet in length, intended to introduce a significant amount of drugs, mounted an extensive operation by sea and land .
Later, when the individuals became aware of the presence of the authorities, they managed to reach the coast of Palmar de Ocoa and when they made contact with the ground units, a gunfight broke out, which the individuals took advantage of to evade the siege of The authorities.

In the midst of the scuffle, the reaction teams seized the boat, with a 60-horsepower engine, and seized 13 bales, containing 397 packages of a substance that is presumed to be cocaine.
In the joint operation, an AR-15 rifle was seized with its charger and 23 capsules, a satellite phone, a cell phone, two GPS, six fuel jugs, a beach cooler, with water and energy drinks, among other evidence.
“The interdiction operations against the threats of drug trafficking and its related crimes, continue to double in terminals, air, ports, coasts, borders and the entire national territory, actions that have allowed us to continue dealing important blows to the drug trafficking networks that they try to use the Dominican territory for their illicit activities” indicates the press release.
The 397 packages, used in this new operation, were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), which will determine the exact type and weight of the substance.
