The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) and the Dominican Republic Navycoordinated by members of the Public Ministry, confiscated 227 packages presumably cocaineon the coast of the municipality of Nigua, San Cristóbal province.
According to the statement, in response to intelligence reportsnaval and land units, pursued several men who, on board a boat, intended to introduce a significant amount of presumed controlled substances into Dominican territory.
Later, adds the official document, in the middle of monitoring, the boat ran aground near the squares beach and the individuals, upon noticing the presence of the authorities, fled, leaving the blue and white boat abandoned, named (Hilda II, registration BP-H4-281Z).
The agents of the DNCD and Navy personnel proceeded to inspect the boat, finding on the two sidewalks (encaletados) 102 packages that are presumed to be of cocaineand immediately starting an extensive search and trace operation along the entire coast.
Then, the statement specified, in the surroundings of the boat, 33 loose packages were found and a few meters later, five nylon sacks containing another 92 packages inside, for a total of 227.

The 227 packages are being sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) to determine the exact type and weight of the substance.
