DNCD occupies another drug shipment of more than 400 kilos

Another shipment of 409 kilos of cocaine was seized last night by the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD)the Dominican Navy and the Public Ministryduring an extensive maritime and land operation in Santo Domingo Eastbeing arrested a Dominican and a Venezuelan.

While the five Dominicans and two Colombians were identified from whom the authorities seized 1,613 kilos of cocaine in two operations in the Peravia Province, where according to the DNCDoperates a strong structure of Dominican drug traffickers with international support.

With the seizure of the 409 kilos of cocaine, there are eight cases of drug cache seized in recent days by the DNCDwith the support of the Navy Dominicanintelligence and security agencies of the Condition and the Ministry Public.

The drug was seized from the Venezuelan Dominican aboard a speedboat that was sighted several nautical miles southeast of the municipality Santo Domingo East and according to the authorities the cache was brought into the country from the Republic of Colombia.

Finding themselves trapped, the two men aboard a Gofast-type boat, 23 feet long, equipped with two 60-horsepower engines with 16 jugs of gasoline, tried to evade the units of the Navy Dominicantaking to the sea.

The subjects began to throw into the sea several sacks containing the 409 kilos of cocaine that were collected from the waters by the members of the DNCD and the Dominican Navy, later managing to intercept the vessel several nautical miles from the municipality Holy Sunday East.

In addition to the drugs, the authorities seized from the Dominican and the Venezuelan a communication radio, a balaclava, three cell phones and other objects that are in the possession of the Ministry Public for the corresponding purposes.

The cocaine cache was taken amid extreme security measures to the Institute of Forensic Sciences, while the two detainees, the authorities announced that they would request a coercive measure for drug trafficking from Dominican Republic.

According to data supplied by the DNCDin the last fourteen days, that body with the support of the Dominican Navysecurity agencies and the Ministry PublicFour thousand 358 kilos of cocaine have been seized from drug trafficking groups.

While the authorities identified this Thursday the five Dominicans and the two Colombians whom they occupied in two operations in the province peravianthe amount of 1,613 kilos of cocaine that they tried to introduce into the country from Colombia.

The prisoners, against whom a Bani court will hear coercive measures in the next few hours, are the Dominicans Wlimer Enmanuel Arias, Juan Daniel Pimentel, Geuri Feliz Gómez, Manuel Pérez and Antonio Feliz Gómez.

While the Colombians arrested along with the Dominicans, were identified as Alvarado Segundo Puena and Juan Anagel Uribe, who are being held in prison by the Peravia Province prosecutor’s office until they are tried by a court.

The constant seizures of drugs from groups of Dominican and foreign drug traffickers has forced the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD)to redouble controls and surveillance on all national coasts, with the full support of the Dominican Navy and the Public Ministry.
