Santo Domingo.- The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) confiscated 227 packages, presumably cocaine, on the coast of the municipality of Nigua, San Cristóbal province.
Based on intelligence reports, naval and land units pursued several men who, aboard a boat, intended to introduce a significant amount of presumed controlled substances into Dominican territory.

The DNCD agents and Navy personnel, They proceeded to inspect the boat, finding on the two sidewalks (encaletados) 102 packages that are presumed to be cocaine, and immediately starting an extensive search and tracking operation along the entire coast.

Then, around the boat, 33 loose packages were found and a few meters further on, five nylon sacks containing another 92 packages inside, for a total of 227.
A 32-foot-long boat was seized, with an 85-horsepower outboard motor, six fuel jugs, a toolbox, a bilge pump, a black canvas, and life jackets, among other evidence.
“Electronic equipment was also seized, including a GPS, two satellite phones and a cell phone, which will be subjected to the extraction of data and information, to deepen the investigations.”
The Public Ministry and the DNCD have interviewed several people in relation to the case and hope to provide more details as the investigative process progresses.
The 227 packages are being sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to determine the exact type and weight of the substance.
