Santo Domingo. – The mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía, ordered the intensification of preventive operations to clean filters and drains to reduce the possible effects of the rains.

Preventive work has impacted 27 de Febrero Avenue with Caonabo, John F. Kennedy near the Olympic Center, San Martín under the V Centenario overpass and the boardwalk.
The mayor’s brigades have also worked in the Don Bosco, Los Prados, Villa Juana, Mirador Norte and Mata Hambre sectors.
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET) has forecast showers, thunderstorms and gusts of wind, the result of a trough and a tropical wave affecting the national territory.
In this regard, the National District and 14 other districts are under green alert, while another four were raised to yellow alert by the Emergency Operations Center (COE).
The city council has recommended that citizens not put garbage bags out on the streets and in front of the building when rain is expected. This way, the garbage will not be carried away by the water, which could contribute to the obstruction of filters and cause flooding.
