Santo Domingo, DN – The Mayor’s Office of the National District has intensified the cleaning operations of drains and filters in recent days to mitigate the effects of the rains.
Under the mandate of Mayor Carolina Mejía, the presence of brigade members and suction trucks from the council has been notable in different parts of the National District.
Ensanche Kennedy, Villa Juana, Ensanche La Fe, Piantini and other sectors have recently been impacted with cleaning work that includes cleaning of filters and drains, gutters and supervision of potentially critical places.
In light of the rains, the mayor’s office has called on people to avoid taking garbage bags out onto the streets and in front of homes, so that they are not washed away by the water, causing flooding due to clogged filters.
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) forecast showers and thunderstorms for several localities. The Emergency Operations Center placed some territories under alert, including the National District, due to the proximity of a tropical wave in combination with a trough.
