Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) On Thursday, the number of provinces that, along with the National District, are on green alert increased to eleven due to the incidence of a trough and tropical wave that are significantly increasing cloudiness in some parts of the country.
The provinces under warning are Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macoris, La Romana, La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Sanchez Ramirez, Duarte, Samana and Maria Trinidad Sanchez, making a total of twelve districts on green alert.
“The COE has increased the green alert level for 11 provinces and the National District, due to the fact that significant increases have been observed through satellite images and meteorological Doppler radar, as a result of the incidence of an active tropical wave and a trough at high altitude,” the COE reported on its X account, along with the alert map.
Meanwhile, the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) explained that, “both weather systems will continue to cause moderate to heavy showers with thunderstorms and gusts of wind over much of the country.”
Indomet added that it continues to monitor a large disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms associated with an active tropical wave located over Puerto Rico.

He explained that this system has a 10% probability of forming a cyclone in the next 48 hours and a 60% probability in the next 7 days. However, regardless of its development, we expect it to generate significant rainfall accumulations in different provinces of the national territory.
