Djokovic: "That it's been so long makes victory sweeter"

The Serbian Novak Djokovic assured this Sunday, after beating the Norwegian Casper Ruud in the final of a Masters Cup that he had not won since 2015, that “the fact that so much time has passed makes the victory sweeter.”

Djokovic capped the season with his sixth Masters Cup, which equals the Swiss Roger Federer for the highest. He also did it being the oldest, at 35 years old.

“Seven years have passed, it’s a long time, but at the same time, the fact that so much time has passed makes it sweeter,” he acknowledged on the track at the Pala Alpitour in Turin.

«I have spoken many times about how strange the season has been, I can’t wait to have a vacation. I have been in the spotlight every week to know if he played or not played, “he commented.

«These types of matches are decided by a narrow margin, but we have both served well. I have been able to make him run and I have sought to be aggressive and it has worked. I have had some mistakes, I have to be 100 percent concentrated, but I was a little nervous, “he said.
