The sisters took advantage of the security tours of the Army, the National Guard, and the State Police, to go for some of their belongings. They left there a year ago after a series of homicides and threats from criminal groups in the region.
Juanita, 42, found her home ransacked. She saw the same thing in the homes of her neighbors.
“They came from other places, with a different accent, sometimes when one arrived at the little stores, one would party there, they would arrive very armed and with everything, they would grab a drink and even pay for that, but, well, one did not think that they would go to be offensive,” a resident told Pedro Anza about the arrival of criminal groups in the region.
