The Executive Secretariat of Civil Defense of Pernambuco raised today (7) to 119,523 the number of people displaced in the state due to the rains that hit the region in the last 16 days. The number of homeless rose to 9,134.
According to the state’s Civil Defense, five more landslides were recorded this Tuesday: two in the municipality of Quipapá, one in Jaqueira, one in Tamandaré and one in Recife. In Tamandaré, five people were hit and three needed to be hospitalized. In Recife, there were four victims in the landslide. One of them, a 13-year-old teenager, died.
According to Companhia Pernambucana de Abastecimento (Compesa), six dams continue to operate at full capacity in the state: Várzea do Una (São Lourenço da Mata), Duas Unas (Jaboatão dos Guararapes), Pirapama (Cabo de Santo Agostinho), Sicupema ( Cabo de Santo Agostinho), Utinga (Ipojuca) and Bita (Ipojuca).
As a result of the rains that continue to affect the regions of Mata, Agreste and Metropolitana do Recife, the Department of Highways (DER) continues to monitor the highways.
