Between comings and goings of including or not including the private sector and taking out a loan or using its own resources, the Executive delays the presentation of the fuel subsidy project. From the Senate they speak of a disorientation, while the truckers will come this afternoon to Asunción.
Last Friday, the Ministry of Finance presented a project that created a Fuel Price Stabilization Fund for Petropar and private emblems, with an initial amount of 100 million dollars, through a CAF loan.
The proposal was rejected by the senators, who demanded to exclude the private sector and exclusively use their own resources, instead of resorting to a new debt.
This Monday, the Treasury brought the new proposal with the guidelines lowered by Congress, but finally there is talk of the need to re-include both the public and private sectors, without confirming the source of financing.
“There is a disorientation in the Executive and it is dangerous because first, they sent a project where there was no consensus here, it is changed, they work on a project that generated consensus among all the parties, then they withdraw the project,” said Senator Hugo Richer .
However, he recognized that the idea of including only Petropar has important limitations, since the coverage covers only 14% of the market and will not be able to satisfy the requirements of truckers.
“We have a government absolutely incapable of organizing anything at all,” he lamented. For their part, the truckers announced that this afternoon they will enter Asunción, in order to toughen the claims, since they consider that the negotiations have cooled down and that the Executive is delaying the resolution of the problem.
