More than 500 years old, the Nemocón Salt Mine is located 80 meters underground and has 1,600 meters of tunnels.
During its operation between 1816 and 1968, approximately eight million tons of salt were extracted. Today, its tunnels and chambers captivate visitors with fascinating formations and structures.
Notable attractions include the 28 brine mirrors, which create a stunning optical effect, and the enormous 1,300-kilogram stone sphere in the Chapel Chamber, symbolizing the world.
Romantics can admire the heart carved in rock salt, the work of miner Miguel Sánchez in the 1960s, while the curious can explore the salt waterfalls and underground pools.

How to get to the salt mine in Nemocón?
From Bogotá, you can take a direct bus to Nemocón from the Salitre Transport Terminal (Diagonal 23 # 69-1) with the Alianza company, which has departures at 8:45 am and 10:00 am.
