Disappeared in the DR | Where is the boy Luis Ángel?

In case of disappearance of Luis Angel Gonzalez Mendez was in the spotlight at the beginning of the year, and although nine months have passed, it is still a mystery the whereabouts of the minor six years.

According to the investigations of the Barahona Prosecutor’s OfficeLuis Angel He was kidnapped by his ex-stepfather Anderson Daniel Pérez González on February 6 in the municipality of vincent noblein complicity with the accused Jonainy Méndez, from whose cell phone a call was made requesting a ransom of two million pesos.

In conversation with the young mother of Luis Ángel, Esther Fraila Mendezshe reiterated that her ex-partner committed the act in an act of revenge because she formalized a relationship with another person.

Remember that, to commit the act, he summoned her to meet at the tourist resort “The Mary of Neiba”, Bahoruco province, and never arrived. Instead, he said that he took advantage of his absence to present himself in the sector straw batey to take the minor who was playing with his brothers in a street near his residence. A Surveillance Camera He captured the moment when a car, allegedly driven by the defendant, approached the child.

We had ended the relationship, but he always kept an eye on us in case we came back. When I proposed to another person, he said that I had to go back to him just because. I made a mistake… I never thought he would act against my children,” the young mother said between sobs.

Among the common thread of this story, the Barahona Prosecutor’s Office states that weeks after the disappearancea call was recorded from Jonainy Méndez’s cell phone to another person related to Anderson Daniel, asking for a ransom to deliver the minor.

Since last May 5, both Anderson Daniel and Jonainy are serving pretrial detention accused of kidnapping.

They don’t say what happened

The Barahona Prosecutor’s Office reported that, nine months after the disappearance of Luis Ángel, the defendants have not revealed what happened to the minor, despite the evidence that indicates that they are responsible for the abduction, such as the video from the surveillance camera of the moment the minor disappeared, the call from the cell phone of the defendant and the testimony of Luis Ángel’s little brothers, obtained through an interview in Gesell camera.

According to article 13 of the Criminal Procedure Code “No one can be forced to testify against himself and all defendants have the right to remain silent.” That right is being used by the defendants to prolong the suffering of the mother and escape a longer sentence, indicated the prosecutor handling the case, who assured that despite not finding the child, the accusation of kidnapping it keeps.

waiting for evidence

Currently, the Barahona Prosecutor’s Office is awaiting the report from the Department of Complex Cases and some evidence from the Department of Investigation of Crimes and High Technology Crimes (Dicat) that were sent last March to file the formal accusation in this case.

In parallel, the prosecutor handling the case was transferred to Santiago, but she established other lines of investigation in order to find the whereabouts of Luis Ángel, he explained.

Her transfer worries Fraila Méndez and her lawyer, who have taken their claim to the magistrate’s office Miriam German Brito to be informed of the new lines of investigation of the disappearance.

“We have the situation that there is no prosecutor directly assigned to the case and our concern is that time is lost and that it harms the results of the investigation,” deplored Ivan Ariel Gomezlawyer for Luis Ángel’s mother.

In addition, he stated: “We have requested the Attorney of the Republic that the Barahona Prosecutor’s Office give us information that they have and have not provided it because they speak of a discretionary nature of the investigation, but everyone knows that the information is public for the parties of the process, you must let it flow”.

Instead, the desperate mother implores that the actions of the place be carried out to find the whereabouts of Luis Ángel.

“For me, good news is not that they find more evidence against him -Anderson Daniel- but rather that they say that there is a clue to find my son”declared Fraila Méndez, while her lawyer limited: “Today I don’t know if the child is alive or dead.”
