Unfortunately the girl arrived without signs of life at the hospital. The event occurred in a house located in the Loma Pytâ neighborhood of the city of Asunción. She knows how to apply the “Heimlich Maneuver”.

After what happened, the parents took the little girl to the hospital in that town, but unfortunately she was admitted with no signs of life. The doctor on duty informed the deputy police chief that the cause of her death was due to choking affected by the obstruction of the airway.
There have already been several cases of this type that have been registered in recent times, with ex-senator Pedro Pablo Ovelar Ledesma the last case.

Heimlich maneuver in adults
The Heimlich maneuver is a first aid procedure used when a person is drowning.
Step by step on how to perform the technique
If the person cannot breathe, cough, or make sounds:
*Stand or kneel behind the person and wrap your arms around the person’s waist. If the person is standing, place one of your legs between the person’s legs so that you can support them in case they pass out.
*Form a fist with one hand. Place your fist with the thumb side against the person’s belly, just above the navel but well below the breastbone. See image A.

*Grab your fist with the other hand and then give a quick upward compression into the abdomen. This can cause the object to be ejected. You may need to use more force for a larger person and less for a child or short adult. See image B.

*Repeat compression until the object comes out or the person passes out.
Heimlich maneuver in babies
The Heimlich maneuver in babies, who suffer from choking, should be carried out following the steps below:
*The baby is placed face down, supported on the adult’s forearm or thigh transversely.
*With the same hand his head is supported and his jaw is held.
*With the other hand, 5 claps are given between the two shoulder blades, with a lateral escape route, avoiding hitting the head.
*Next, the baby is turned very carefully holding its head.
*If the baby does not react, the adult should place two or three fingers (preferably the index and middle fingers) below the nipple line and give 5 slow deep compressions in the center of the sternum.
*This maneuver must be alternated until the object is cleared.
Heimlich maneuver to oneself
*Close your hand. Place your thumb below the rib cage and above the navel.
*Clamp the fist with the other hand. Press on the area with a quick upward movement
*You can also lean on the edge of a table, chair, or railing. Quickly push your upper belly (upper abdomen) against the edge.
*If necessary, repeat this movement until the object obstructing the airway is expelled.
