The national and regional directors of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) have expressed their firm support for Bill 163, which seeks to reform Law 51 of the Social Security Fund (CSS).
That is why the Minister of Health, Fernando Boyd Galindo, trained all regional directors to be spokespersons in supporting these reforms, since it is based on the importance of improving the public health system in Panama, which affects thousands. of insured and uninsured seeking medical care.
The directors of the Minsa pointed out that the review of the CSS has been postponed for years, which has negatively impacted those who depend on their pensions after ending their working life. The social security system faces important challenges, such as financial sustainability, quality of services and coverage for all citizens.
Ignoring this problem could jeopardize current and future retirements, as well as generate a deficit that would affect resources allocated to the construction of hospitals and health centers, as well as the provision of medicines and supplies.
In addition, they urged the deputies of the National Assembly to legislate for the benefit of citizens, leaving aside political interests and focusing on the safeguarding of the country’s main social security institution.
