Director of the National Police: “There are no commands to kill criminals”

The director of the National Police, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, assured today that In that institution there is no expression “put him down”, nor are there special commands to murder criminals.

However, he maintained that the baton is still the first tool that the police officer must use to confront crime and guarantee order in the streets and not the firearm.

The senior officer highlighted the profound transformation that the public order institution is experiencing. “We focus on crime and delinquency. Based on that focus, the institution has cutting-edge technology comparable to that of any police force in the world,” said Guzmán Peralta.

The baton is the essential tool to combat crime according to Police Director

He explained that current police work is carried out with planning and operational order, using heat maps of crime throughout the country and advanced criminal intelligence systems, under the coordination of the Directorate of Intelligence and Criminal Investigations.

The police chief assured that the institution has all the necessary technology to do efficient work at the level of developed countries.

During an interview on the program Hoy Mismo, on Color Visión, channel 9, Guzmán Peralta highlighted the achievements achieved thanks to police reform and modernization, including the dignification of the career and a substantial improvement in salaries.

“An agent who previously earned nine thousand pesos today earns 29,150, plus incentives and contributory health insurance that allows him to receive care at any medical center in the country,” he said.

He added that more than 100 modern police stations have been built throughout the national territory, with decent conditions so that agents can spend the night and provide efficient service to the community.

Among the most notable advances, he mentioned the incorporation of a vehicle fleet never seen before in the Dominican Republic, as well as the use of technology based on artificial intelligence, which places the country at the level of the most advanced police forces in the world.

“We have all the tools needed to be efficient and provide a service that meets the circumstances.”
