The temporarily suspended director of the National Migration Service, Luis Thayer, referred to the complex situation that the organization he leads is experiencing.
“The only way to fundamentally solve the problems of the National Immigration Service is to fulfill the mission it has on time: process residence permits,” Thayer said on Twitter, attaching various statistics.
“Considering the 3 main types of visas granted (temporary, extensions, and extraordinary process requests), we see that during the entire year 2021, 91,834 visas were granted, with a monthly average of just over 7,000,” he said.
And he added that, between January and March of this year, before assuming the management of the agency, another 21,839 visas were granted, which gives a monthly average of 7,000.
