The general director of the Center for Industrial Development and Competitiveness (Proindustria), Mr. Rafael Cruz Rodríguez, highlighted today the commitment of the institution he directs to continue promoting the industrial and manufacturing development of the Dominican Republic.
These statements were made during the official opening of two warehouses of the “El Artista” tobacco company, a new company located in the industrial park of San Juan de la Maguana, which marks a milestone in the economic boost of the southern region of the country.
With an investment of 103 million pesos in the construction of both infrastructures, the “El Artista” tobacco company projects about 600 direct jobs, starting this Monday with about 200 positions, boosting the economy of the province and strengthening the national manufacturing industry.
“This new industrial warehouse is a clear demonstration of the work that Proindustria carries out to support the country’s industrial sectors, creating new employment opportunities and contributing to the economic growth of the entire southern region, in line with the development vision of President Luis Abinader. “Cruz Rodríguez stated.
He added that “we feel very happy, very satisfied with the work that is being done and we bet that this province will be the great push for the development of free and industrial zones in the entire southern region of the Dominican Republic.”
The official also took the opportunity to supervise the construction work of two new industrial warehouses that are installed within said industrial park, the roofing of another, as well as the completion of the administrative offices that will house the offices of Proindustria, Infotep, Customs, a medical dispensary that will provide health services to employees, as well as the construction work of the checkpoint that gives access to the industrial park and the expansion of the entrance to the free zone, whose investment amounts to more than 30 million pesos ..
The general director also highlighted the importance of the support that Proindustria provides to emerging companies in their innovation and industrial entrepreneurship processes, as part of the entity’s mission to promote a competitive industrial ecosystem in the country.
Cruz Rodríguez took advantage of the occasion to congratulate President Abinader for his commitment to the Dominican people, noting that, despite the challenges inherited, his government has maintained a clear focus on industrial and social development, maintaining high levels of popularity both at the nationally and in the Caribbean and Central American region.
With the opening of this new company, Proindustria reaffirms its role as a strategic ally of the country’s industries, with the aim of continuing to promote development and industrial competitiveness throughout the national territory.
