The current director of Metro de Santiago, Nicolás Valenzuela, referred to the old publication where he alluded to avoiding public transport within the framework of the demonstrations of the social outbreak.
“I am honored to be one of the seven board members of one of the public companies that contributes the most to social equity, the right to the city and sustainable mobility. For that reason, it seems to me that decontextualizing and overstating a tweet published at a time complex for Chile, it does not correspond,” he declared via Twitter.

Along these lines, Valenzuela pointed out that he is part of those who feel “identified with forms of nonviolent protest. I have never celebrated or encouraged any type of damage to people or to our public infrastructure.”
“In no case was there literality when repeating a phrase from the protest. If there was and is in me, I support the discontent that mobilized an important part of the country. I have dedicated an important part of my professional career to studying, improving and promoting the use of sustainable modes of transportation, and it is part of my vocation,” he added.
However, the architect stated that he will continue working “to create better cities for Chile.”
Regarding the questions that I have received as a result of a tweet published a couple of years ago, during the social outbreak, I would like to clarify: I am honored to be one of the seven members of the board of directors of one of the public companies that contributes the most to equity. (1/5)

It should be noted that on October 18, 2019, at the height of the social outbreak, the current director of Metro wrote from Barcelona “evade, not pay, another form of struggle #MassEvasion”.
