Agents of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) arrested the director of the Barinas Judicial Internment Center (Injuba) and three other officials for their alleged responsibility in the escape of three prisoners from the aforementioned prison, according to judicial sources.
The detainee was identified as Johnny José Orozco Moncayo, who served as director of Injuba. Leonardo Alexander Caicedo Márquez (head of the regime) was also arrested, as well as the guards José Luis Rodríguez Narváez and César Miguel Meneses Loyo, said the source.
Among the fugitives are Arun Pineda and Jorge Luis González. These men allegedly fled in the middle of a shootout in which a GNB agent was injured.
The escapees fled to a nearby neighborhood where they were awaited to be transferred to another location.
After learning of the events, the Minister for Penitentiary Services, Julio García Zerpa, went to Injuba and carried out an extraordinary search with the support of the Immediate Response Group.
