Santo Domingo.- The Director General of the National Police, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, participated in the last week of July in a series of activities framed within the process of transformation and professionalization of the law enforcement institution.
These activities covered both operational and administrative aspects, especially in the area of dignifying police officers and their families.
Thus, on Monday, July 29, he took part in the customary follow-up meeting to the “Citizen Security Plan”, which was headed by Vice President Raquel Peña, representing President Luis Abinader.
In this context, the Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos Echavarría, reported that to date the police and military authorities have removed from the streets more than 19,000 illegal firearms and that the accumulated homicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants is 9.84.
On Tuesday, July 30, the police director headed the distribution ceremony for more than 1,000 aspiring police officers who are doing their internship in different preventive areas and in the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett).
On Thursday, August 1, he also attended the event where the Ministry of the Interior and Police signed an agreement with pharmacies and laboratories through which police officers and firefighters will be granted discounts on medications and tests that allow savings of up to 45 percent.
That same day, Major General Guzmán Peralta received the executive director of ARS-SeNaSa, Dr. Santiago Hazim, in his office, who highlighted the achievements of his police management and his commitment to citizen security.
