The director of the Directorate Against Terrorism (Dircote), General José Zavala, gave details of the investigation carried out on the alleged links between the mobilizations that took place in Ayacucho and the Shining Path.
The Ayacucho Regional Committee was investigated after the capture of the president of the Ayacucho People’s Defense Front (Fredepa), Rocío Leandro Melgar, alias ‘Comrade Cusi’, for an alleged link with the mobilizations that took place on the 15th and 16th December 2022.
Zavala reported that documentation and conversations were found, as well as the organizational chart that would demonstrate Leandro Melgar’s connection to the terrorist organization.
